💽Technology

Many Web3 games today have high barriers to entry to start playing. It can be confusing deciphering how to set up and secure a wallet. It can be expensive to buy an entry-level NFT to start playing. Users are accustomed to easy-to-navigate app stores full of games with little to no barrier to entry.

To bridge F2P users, we need to create a streamlined experience that makes interacting with Web3 features as easy as Web2. This means building off of scalable Web3 technologies which provide a secure experience for our users while keeping costs low, providing free pathways for users to get started, and building customized decentralized apps (dApps) that provide a user-friendly experience for F2P players to interact with Web3. By lowering the barrier of entry, we believe we can introduce more players to P&E.

Building Web3 features can be complex. Blockchain technology is always evolving and changing. This makes it difficult for game developers to integrate into their games. In addition to streamlining the user experience, we must streamline the developer experience. This means building SDKs and libraries in similar tech and style to those they work with daily. Building in Web3 should be like building in Web2. The easier it is to integrate into a F2P game, the more developers will start leveraging Web3 features in their games. Tilting Point is positioned perfectly to enter Web3 because building fun games and providing crucial tech services are core to our mission at Tilting Point. Building our Web3-focused suite of tools will be how we provide the most fun for our players and the most value for current and future game studio partners. Our initial suite of Web3 services is designed for F2P and Web3 savvy users, catering to developers with easy APIs for game integrations.

Underlying Web3 Technology Our token and NFTs will initially be launched on Polygon (MATIC), a Layer 2 Ethereum solution using Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus. We also encourage gaming partners who want to work with PWRUP to utilize Polygon’s network. PWRUP’s ecosystem, though, is designed to be agnostic. We have a wide array of studios and titles to work with and will support any existing smart contracts and protocols already live in a product under our offerings.

When beneficial, all PWRUP dApps (marketplace, dashboard) and games will send any blockchain transactions through Flashbots Relay. Flashbots has an Ethereum node and relay service that aims to make MEV (Maximal extractable value) more democratic and accessible. As transactions relayed through Flashbots are parallel but private, these bypass the mempool reducing the bidding war and overall gas fees.

PWRUP users can swap tokens to $PWR and other supported ERC-20 tokens with Flashbots Relay, allowing for a secure but streamlined experience that saves gas and prevents interference from front-running bots (bots that scan blockchain transactions and pay greater gas fees to get its transaction processed first by the miners, resulting in a front-run).

$PWR will be built using an ERC-1155 contract, a relatively newer standard compared to ERC-20 and ERC-721 protocols which allow for the creation of both fungible and non-fungible tokens, as well as capabilities for batch transfers. The NFT Passport NFTs and subsequent collections Tilting Point releases will exist as ERC-1155 NFTs and $PWR as an ERC-1155 FT. However, since ERC-20 has much more mass adoption at this time, we will deploy a corresponding ERC-20 proxy contract that interacts with the underlying ERC-1155 asset. Thus, $PWR will be tradable on ERC-20 decentralized exchanges (such as Uniswap).

To that end, we are launching with six core components to fulfill our vision of bringing Web3 to the F2P community:

Identity Linkage / SSO Auth We are building what’s necessary to enable our users to quickly register and link their game data to our marketplace with zero frustrations or confusion. We are doing this by supporting common single-sign-on options familiar to the Web2 mobile game player to ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience for the typical mobile F2P player. We will also support logging in with common crypto wallets for the P&E player. Users will use this system to authenticate and access services across our entire ecosystem.

The data we utilize through our SSO auth service will enable us to build user acquisition tools fit for Web3, support well targeted airdrops and enable persistent avatars across a portfolio of games. This is the foundation for building an ecosystem for all past, present, and future games added to the Tilting Point catalog.

We also aim for this system to be easy to integrate and transparent for our developer partners. Our SSO solution is built off well-known, open standards in OpenID Connect (OIDC) and OAuth2.0, already widely used in Web2. We are building lightweight SDKs for the Unity game engine, so utilizing our login system in-game is as easy as other Web2 services they already use.

We want to encourage users to want to KYC themselves and establish their identity in the Web3 space but not enforce this as a requirement. Users with verified identities will access benefits that will carry over outside of PWRUP’s ecosystem into other games and projects we collaborate with, such as a reputation score that can be used for faster queue processing and specialty pricing.

Custodial, Streamlined Wallet We are building our custodial wallet to lower the barrier to entry for our F2P players. We leverage our SSO solution for authentication, so wallets are directly tied to a user’s account. Wallets are created during account registration, so they are available whenever needed. We will support common 2FA methods for an extra level of security. Users can recover their wallets through traditional web2 methods, and we will provide full customer support to assist with account management.

Our custodial wallet solution utilizes Stardust’s technology and Ethereum-based wallets linked to our SSO authentication and general identity linkage. Tilting Point is actively developing partnerships with payment processing platforms, so the experience of purchasing and transferring digital assets with our wallets will only get quicker and easier over time.

As our wallets are created upon account registration, there is some linkage to personal information (email). As part of our streamlined wallet and Web3 identity solution, users will retain an NFT domain (via our integration with Unstoppable Domains) for their wallet, with a custom top-level domain Tilting Point owns and any username of their choosing. Users can utilize this custom domain anywhere instead of giving their conventional Ethereum wallet address.

For those users who already have an existing wallet, we will offer the ability to connect common crypto wallets with their TP wallet so they can still access all of our services. With its unique identity mapped to an NFT domain and a custodial wallet, Tilting Point offers a suite of services and features that allow for a wide range of utility and integration purposes. All are recorded to the user’s identity on-chain.

With PWRUP, we wish to give the Web3 community more reason to connect their identities to these emerging decentralized spaces, benefitting from the transparency and openness of the blockchain.

Payments

We have selected Paper.xyz as our provider and have confidence in their payment solution to be the best solution to help convert our Web2 audiences into Web3 participants. After analyzing the landscape of payment providers – Paper.xyz best integrates with our ThirdWeb minting contracts, provides fiat onramps across multiple regions through credit cards (with Apple & Google Pay coming soon), has the best UX experience, crypto onramps built in for our web3 native audiences, and allows us to integrate it into our entire tech stack seamlessly. Our mission from day one has been to reduce pain points and friction at every step while onboarding Web2 users into Web3 and payments are a core part of that mission and we can only do so by offering payment methods our Web2 users are used to.

Beyond our first launches, Paper.xyz also supports user-to-user transactions in our marketplace, which will be vital for bootstrapping a large, healthy market ecosystem that rewards developers choosing to integrate with users and us wanting to participate.

Regardless, we are constantly watching regulations in the US, Europe, and other regions to ensure that our payment solution stands the test of time and grants confidence to Web2 onboarding users. We will continue to review our needs, use cases, and the end-user experience to ensure we are always providing the best possible onboarding experience.

Marketplace We are building a mobile game-focused NFT marketplace that will give our users a simple, secure way to buy and sell Tilting Point NFTs, convert their in-game currencies to $PWR, and manage their player accounts. The marketplace will also enable our game studio partners to start selling NFTs directly to players. We will provide the tech they need to get started, such as NFT creation and game administration tools. We also build customized analytics dashboards to monitor and track core KPIs easily.

With their custodial wallets, users can mint our NFT Passports and other NFTs and sign on to our marketplace, where our NFTs can exclusively be listed for direct sale or auction. A royalty fee will be deducted from listing sales to drive development and marketing efforts further.

Our marketplace will have a mobile and web interface and internal APIs for our developers to utilize for in-game interactions. Players in our games will be able to manage their assets easily, with accessible links to open up the mobile marketplace site when necessary for convenience. A dashboard where users can manage their loyalty points, identification details, and asset transfers will also be accessible in the mobile and web marketplace, including converting other in-game utilities and popular tokens to $PWR.

We have partnered with an industry expert in Stardust to help us build the marketplace. Stardust is the easiest way to create and implement NFTs in our games and begin building in the metaverse today and not tomorrow. We are leveraging Stardust technology to handle order flow and settle transactions. All transactions will be settled on Polygon. We plan to support our custodial wallets and any other wallet supported by https://walletconnect.com/ . The marketplace will utilize our SSO solution for authentication and user identity. Our marketplace will initially be a web application, but we are planning to make it easy to showcase directly in-game in the future.

Game SDKs With Stardust and our internal development team, we are building all the connections that will enable our game studio partners to track player inventory as they trade, earn, and buy the assortment of NFTs we have planned. We are focused on building ready-to-use Unity SDKs that enable us to ensure everything we offer is simple to integrate and leverage for developers with the same development velocity as the Web2 tech stacks they’re used to.

Loyalty Point Service - Security and consistency are most important for the health of our game economy in and outflows. We are locking down the loyalty point currency and making it server authoritative and consistent across all of our integrated game titles. Users will only be able to earn a cap per day of loyalty points deemed valid for each game and prevent any one game’s product issues from harming our ecosystem overall. This also ensures fairness and enables us to create dynamic anti-botting solutions so that our games and marketplace remain sane, stable, and healthy. We are planning for all exchange rates to be fully adjustable so that as data rolls in and we monitor the ecosystem’s economic health, we can make course corrections easily and with velocity instead of building those safeguards later.

Community There is no point in entering Web3 if we do not build a community centered around our new ecosystem that is authentic, not overtly corporate, and engages in good faith directly with our players. One where there will be an unprecedented level of access to our core decision-makers inside Tilting Point, our game dev studio partners, and other employees of Tilting Point, where we will answer community questions and engage freely. Our core priority is to build an authentic, genuine connection with our traditional F2P audiences and the new Web3-centric audiences we hope to attract through our initiatives in this new space.

We plan on building a set suite of socials from the ground up, a Discord community with Web3 characteristics first, doxxing our team, and holding Ask Me Anythings (AMAs). We hope to prove in time both internally and externally that this is the way forward with how you should conduct business with our players, our customers, and our partners.

We will use our Discord to hold contests, game nights, and organize 1:1s with our team, our most active players, and community participants.

We’ll also be using a suite of Discord bots like collab.land to verify our NFT offerings purchased through traditional web3 wallets and assets purchased through Stardust, our custodial wallet solution. We’ll be building bot services to show market activity and prices of our NFT marketplace. As well as standard security measures to keep our community safe through Captcha Bot, MEE6, and Beemo.

At its core, we understand Web3 Community means: Transparent directly into our workflows, processes, and early previews often Unfiltered and unprecedented levels of communication that most corporations aren’t used to Direct access to the team building out our offering Fun, genuine, and authentic understanding of the space we’re entering with respect for the landscape and players born of it.
